♥ January Lolita Meet - Afternoon Tea Party! ♥

You may remember one of our goals for 2015 was both to attend more meetups and try and wear lolita more often! Well, our local community's lolita meet was this Saturday and both of us managed to be free and be feeling up to it! Our community has only really grown in size in the past six months or so, so having an active lolita calendar is a relative novelty! We all planned on meeting up and having afternoon tea at the cutest little tea shop and our lovely host planned a quiz with some prizes for the winning team!

Haz outfit rundown!
JSK - Lyrical Dot by Angelic Pretty
Bolero & Tights - ASDA (forever the classiest place for lolitas to shop!)
Shoes, Blouse, Wristcuffs - Bodyline
Bag - Claire's Accessories
Bow - Home Bargains (it cost 20p and is cute and really, what more can you ask for?)
Wig - Geisha Wigs

(Slightly less classy location!)

Skirt - Metamorphose
Blouse & Shoes - Bodyline
Cardigan - Charity shop
Beret - Accessorize
Glasses & Ankle Socks - eBay
Accessories - Handmade, charity shops, and a very very classy golden crown ring that we took off the top of a Gregg's cupcake!

(an image shamelessly stolen from facebook!)

The tea rooms we went to were adorable! All of the furniture was very shabby chic and vintage and our actual tea was all served in various charmingly mismatched teapots and teacups! Haz and I both has peppermint tea; we're not really very big tea people but because of how generous the "tea for two" offer is we were both able to get about three cups each! We also had a delicious slice of cake each, and they had gluten free cake available for some of the comm members with specific dietary needs!

We then had a lolita quiz devised by our host! The general knowledge questions I think both Haz and I struggled on, but the other questions (name a print with rabbits on! etc.) were both a lot easier, so there was definitely something for everyone! We even had some special rounds such as acting out a brand new VenusAngelic video (both of which are now preserved on video forever!). Around this time, the tearoom needed to shut down (although the lovely workers did extend their hours another half hour for us, which was super nice of them!) and we moved over to finish our quiz at Wetherspoons!

(Wetherspoons bathroom pictures!)

We finished the quiz with a game involving designing lolita coords based on specific themes (including ballet and olives!) and a team game of lolita Cards Against Humanity! Both of the teams ended up tying, but Haz and I brought a little something to contribute to the prizes as well as the prizes that our quizmaster brought, so all of us were able to walk away with little gifts! Haz and I got two cute scented candles (cinnamon stick and lavender!) that smelled divine!

Everyone looked adorable and it was so nice to catch up with each other after the busy festive period! Next month's meet is going to be a Valentine's event, but I'm not sure if either of us will be able to make it, but hopefully we won't have to wait too long before we can get together and get frilly again! I leave you with the video that one of the other comm members made of the day!

♥♪ Outfit Post! #1 ♪♥

One of our friends got married last weekend, and we were invited and asked if we would wear lolita! Generally, whether or not lolita is wedding-appropriate can come up as a point of contention - people worry it will take attention away from the bride, or come off as overdressed, or any other number of (perfectly valid!) worries! However, in this case, seeing as we'd been asked specifically, we thought we would risk it!

Haz!

Haz wore Cinderella Bunny out for the first time! She felt a little bit more conspicuous than Nat, but it is such a cute dress and feels so cute and princessy to wear that it was definitely worth it!

JSK & Shoes: Bodyline
Blouse: Vintage
Kneesocks and Flower Crown: Primark
Acessories: Vintage, gifts and Primark

Haz feels a little bit self-conscious of her arms, so this vintage blouse with pin tucks and a ruffle is perfect for covering up and still being cute! She wore a vintage pearl necklace to match the pearl detailing on the JSK! On the picture above you can also see a cute little vintage ballet shoe brooch - we thought it was appropriate for a ball-themed dress!

Nat!

I got these shoes and skirt specifically for a wedding and was intending to wear them with my fancy new Bodyline blouse, but was a little worried about wearing too much white, so chose a duskier rose vintage blouse! It has some really cute collar embroidery that I love. I felt a lot more casual than Haz, but also might have went a little bit overboard on the accessory department!

Blouse: Vintage
Skirt, Bag & Shoes: Bodyline
Accessories: Cute Can Kill, Chocomint, Vintage, Poundland, eBay

I love this cute little Sailor Moon necklace from eBay!

Our place settings at the wedding were really cute! Also, the brownie served with dessert was absolutely the most delicious food!

We had a lot of fun and are so grateful that we were invited to such a special occasion in our friend's life! What would you say is the most special event you've worn lolita for? Haz and I have been talking a lot about having a lolita wedding or a lolita inspired wedding - how do you guys feel about something like that?

❤❤ Bodyline Review! - ❤❤ ★ Skirt L220, shoes267, and more! ★

Bodyline Review, Take 2!
This time, Nat ordered a whole load of what we both decided were "essentials" in building up our lolita wardrobe! These essentials included: 2 pairs of wristcuffs, a skirt, a pair of shoes and a new blouse! Unfortunately, we placed the order on a Tuesday, which meant we had to wait a whole week for the items to be shipped out again! However, when they were shipped they arrived in exactly 2 weeks and a day, which seemed pretty quick to us! We've made orders with Bodyline before that have taken four weeks to arrive, and when they've got here have had customs charges! :c

Another good change I've noticed is that Bodyline have started marking packages as gifts and marking them down again! This is especially useful for us as UK lolitas, as anything above £15 marked as any kind of merchandise and any gift over £35 gets hit with a customs fee that is at least £10. This order came to £62 altogether, but we had it marked down by half and it arrived with absolutely no charges! Yay! Especially nice as these essentials were bought with birthday money!

So, without further ado: The first item we ordered were shoes267 in owh!

I originally wanted these in the enamelled version, but they were sold out in my size! :c I needed a pair of white shoes that seemed a little more hard-wearing than my BTSSB heart buckle shoes, because as much as I love them they're not really that well made!

I was super happy with these! They're super cute and I love having the security of a little bit of a heel! The cut outs seem very clean and the little scalloping details are very cute. One thing I'm not really that happy with are the bows just being attached via elastic that stretches across your foot, because I have pretty wide feet and I'm worried about snapping it :c. Other than that, though, I really like these! I ordered a size 25.5 and they fit pretty darn well.

Next up: Blouse L364 in owh! I won't bother going into too much detail, as I think everybody and their mother owns this blouse at this point!

One thing I will say, though: for once, Bodyline's measurements on this are pretty 100%! I have the very largest recommended bust for this in 2L, and fitting it on is a bit of a squeeze - I definitely would not recommend buying it assuming there's any stretch, because there really really isn't.

I love love the cute tiny details on this - the pearls on the collar, the heart buttons, the teeny tiny bows on the sleeves. All are super adorable. I'm going to try and get this in as many colours as possible because it's so cute and so versatile!

Skirt L220!

I picked this skirt up because it was both cute and cheap, and I planned a cute coord in my head with it for a friend's summer wedding! It's very cute in real life, very casual - I think it would be super cute in the brown colourway, but I got it in pink!

The waist ties match the little polka dot bow; which to be honest was a bit of a relief as the bow did seem a bit random!

The lace on the waist ties and the bottom isn't really of the best quality, but at least it's soft! It would also be pretty easy to remove, so I think I might do that at some point.

A little surprise I wasn't expecting; detachable waist ties! This is the first Bodyline skirt I've owned with them, and I'm now absolutely terrified of losing them. The little heart buttons on them match the blouse I got!

Finally, to complete my little essentials collection, I got acc1078 (wristcuffs) in both owh-owh and pik-pik!

The stock picture makes them look very cute, if a little bit stiff and oversized! Both of these problems were indeed problems that the wristcuffs have, but they're cute and quite comfortable as well as being relatively cheap, so we're not too fussed! The pink is a little more like the dpik of the tea party shoes, or the pik of Cinderella Bunny, than it is of Bodyline's more pastel items, so be aware of that!

So, that brings another Bodyline review to a close! Both of us like Bodyline; they sell good products for lolitas on a budget, and they are very very good for building up your wardrobe. I had pretty much no problems with this order! All of the quality issues I was expecting, and none of them detract from my enjoyment, so I'm really very happy! We're both very exciting to get co-ording with our new acquisitions!

♥Bodyline Review!♥ (✿◠‿◠) ✿Cinderella Bunny, ✿Tea Parties . . . +

As we mentioned last post, we made a Bodyline order!(。♥‿♥。) We also got it last month, which was super exciting for both of us! The order was a part of Nat's Valentines Day present and contained 2 dresses and a pair of tea parties! We placed the order on 06/02/2014, and it arrived here to where we live (well. . . the sorting office closest to where we live, because we were hit with horrible customs charges!) on 28/02/2014. So overall, not a bad shipping time! (✿◠‿◠) We shipped by AIR, because of its fixed flat rate (we were buying shoes and didn't want the EMS shipping to skyrocket because of a heavy package!)

Our Items Were . . .

shoes251 in dpik! ♥

We got these in the darker pink because we thought it would match the JSK (Cinderella Bunny) better! And they definitely did! These shoes are "Tea Parties", which are based on a very popular Angelic Pretty design!

l459 in blk! ♥

This is an OP, in a colour that we don't really have in our wardrobe! Our local comm is having a black and white/marine themed meet and we thought we would pick this up whilst it was cheap because we wanted to experiment with a slightly "less sweet" style of lolita!

l418 in pik!♥

Or, as it's more commonly called, "Cinderella Bunny!"

Overall Opinions on the Items . . .

These shoes are so cute! (。♥‿♥。) They don't use the buckle fastening you see, instead they fasten via a little "press stud", which saves so much time and is so much easier! I wear a size 6, and we got these in size 255, and they fit pretty much perfectly! (✿◠‿◠) They have a very teeny tiny heel and are also super comfortable! The only shoes I have to compare with are the original heart buckle shoes by BABY, and they're not quite as comfortable as those shoes, but for the price they were definitely worth investing it! The colour is also nowhere near as dark as I originally thought. It was also exciting to see them in an elusive Bodyline shoebox! I can't remember the last time I saw someone who didn't get a box, so maybe Bodyline are finally listening to their customers! (。♥‿♥。)

I'm not really sure how I feel about this OP!(∩︵∩) The material is okay for the price, and aside from some horrendous quality lace on the sleeves, the details seem alright! I'm just not sure how dark colours look on me and I'm not sure about the collar! I'm considering shopping the sleeves after the little puff, just because I think it might look cuter with shorter sleeves! Who knows! A sad thing about this dress: the lace on the bib is already fraying(╥_╥)! I own a maid costume from Bodyline that has a similar collar, and has hook and eye fastenings to keep the collar stiff; this dress has the hook on the back, but not the eye! Mysterious!(∩︵∩)

(pardon the strange choice of blouse, I just threw it on for the photo!)

I think at this point, virtually everyone owns and has done a review on this dress! It's easily the nicest Bodyline dress I've ever owned; it feels princess-like worn, it has good quality lace, the print is crisp and clean, etc. I really love it! (✿◠‿◠) The straps have buttons on the back so you can adjust them if you want longer or shorter straps, which is very useful! A thing I am quite sad about is the bows and pearls are non-removable, but that's not that big of a deal! This dress came with a few loose threads (as so much Bodyline seems to) and I was also hit by the curse of the missing pearls! (∩︵∩)

Three on one side and two on the other, alas (╥_╥). Bodyline should really sew these on more securely, it appears to be a common problem!

Our overall feelings on Bodyline remain the same; Bodyline is a good place to buy from if you want affordable lolita, but it can be rather hit and miss!(╥_╥) We own an awful lot of Bodyline, and we've never really managed to "miss" - but there's always the risk!♥
